Independent councilor at the Funchal Municipal Assembly (CMF), Jorge Afonso Freitas, has issued a statement to clarify his position on news concerning a potential return to the CHEGA party.
Freitas confirmed he was invited and accepted to attend the CHEGA Madeira rentrée rally, where he met with André Ventura and Eduardo Teixeira. He expressed willingness to consider a return but denied promising an immediate return at the next Municipal Assembly meeting, stating that what was agreed upon was the initiation of a dialogue and renegotiation of conditions.
The councilor emphasized that he will continue to champion his serious and interventionist work as an independent and will not attend the next Assembly meeting due to health reasons. He reiterated the need for clarity on conditions and commitments before announcing a definitive return, maintaining his status as an independent councilor.
