As part of World Tourism Day celebrations, the Funchal City Council honored four professionals for their dedication to preserving traditional knowledge and crafts.
Two embroiderers, a fishmonger from the Mercado dos Lavradores square, and a hat maker were recognized. Their activities, developed over decades, contribute to Funchal's identity and the city's tourist appeal.
Mayor Jorge Carvalho emphasized that the awards aim to recognize individuals at the heart of the city's daily life who, in tourist hotspots, provide a daily service to residents and visitors alike.
