The São Vicente Caves, a significant tourist attraction on the island of Madeira, have been closed for six years with no projected reopening date.
Previously, the site welcomed approximately 150,000 visitors annually and generated over one million euros in revenue. The closure was prompted by concerns over low safety standards on more than 95% of the tour route. Tourists continue to visit the site even though it remains closed.
