The Funchal City Council (CMF) presented four Municipal Tourism Distinctions this afternoon at the Lavradores Market Terrace. The ceremony, chaired by Jorge Carvalho, recognized the contributions of Margarida Ascensão and Maria José Rodrigues (embroiderers), Pedro Gonçalves (fishmonger), and Paulo Pestana (hat maker) to the enhancement and promotion of tourism in Funchal.
Jorge Carvalho highlighted the importance of the Lavradores Market as one of the most visited tourist spots, praising the welcoming spirit of the professionals represented there. The mayor emphasized the dedication of these honorees to their professional activities over decades.
The awards are part of the World Tourism Day celebrations, officially observed next Sunday. The Funchal Natural History Museum is also joining the festivities with free admission on Sunday.
