The Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, stated that the Government is not hindering the implementation of the Territorial Mobility Mechanism (MCT), assuring that "no resident of the Azores or Madeira will be left without support." This was declared during a hearing at the Committee on Infrastructure, Mobility, and Housing, addressing concerns about the former Social Mobility Subsidy.
Pinto Luz dismissed suggestions that the Government is delaying the measure's effective date, emphasizing the commitment to "execute what was decided in the Assembly" of the Republic. Regarding issues with the reimbursement request platform, the minister directed queries to the Shared Services Entity of Public Administration (eSPap), which manages its operation.
The Continuity of Territorial Mobility Mechanism, established in 2015 and updated in March 2025 with a digital platform for reimbursements, has faced challenges. To address these, CTT's support for processing reimbursements has been extended until June 2027, and travel agencies will also be able to submit reimbursement requests with passenger authorization.
