Independent councillors Luís Filipe Santos and Jorge Afonso de Freitas have requested that the Funchal Municipal Chamber (CMF) release data concerning the inspection and reassessment of the economic and family circumstances of residents in municipal social housing.
Following a debate on the issue, the councillors emphasized the need for "numbers, answers, and transparency," inquiring about the frequency of these checks and how many households have had their situations reassessed. They also seek to know the number of families currently awaiting municipal housing solutions.
Santos and Freitas stated that car ownership alone does not determine economic status, but significant changes may warrant a review, asserting that "those who continue to need should be protected" and "those who no longer meet the requirements should have their situation reassessed."
