The Iniciativa Liberal (IL) advocated for strengthening the powers of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, considering the regional parliament an essential pillar of Democracy and Autonomy.
The party criticized what it described as a "usurpation" of the legislative competencies of the autonomous regions by the Constitutional Court. During the solemn session marking the 50th anniversary of the Legislative Assembly's installation, IL argued that the parliament's existence is inseparable from Madeiran Autonomy.
IL also proposed the creation of a Technical Unit for Budgetary Support and called for greater civil society involvement in the legislative process, asserting that "the stronger this Assembly is, the stronger Madeira and its people will be."
