Social Democrat deputy Joana Silva has highlighted the importance of home hospitalization units, which are already operational in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
This model, offering an alternative to traditional hospitalization with multidisciplinary teams, has benefited approximately 600 Madeirans since 2023. Silva advocates for its expansion to more municipalities and for strengthening the teams to ensure the same quality as hospital stays.
A second team for this area is currently being prepared, aiming to enhance the service and allow patients to remain with their families, promoting healthcare that is "closer to people and more humane."
