JPP Member of Parliament in the Assembly of the Republic, Filipe Sousa, has submitted a new request to the Republic's Government, urgently seeking the economic-financial study on the viability of a regular ferry service between Madeira and the mainland.
The party states their initial request was made on June 3rd, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing later requested an extension for a response. This deadline passed on August 3rd without the study being delivered. Filipe Sousa deems the situation "incomprehensible and unacceptable," noting the study was publicly funded and concerns mobility and territorial continuity.
The MP argues that "Madeirans must know the conclusions of this study" and that the Government "must clarify, with full transparency, whether or not there is viability for the re-establishment of a regular maritime link between Madeira and the mainland." The current request asks for the study, its annexes, complementary documentation, and an explanation for the missed deadline.
