The JPP party on Wednesday raised concerns about the difficulties faced by home caregivers in Madeira, criticizing what it deems a contradiction between the Regional Government's rhetoric on enhancing home support and the actual situation.
During a press conference in Machico, JPP president Lina Pereira advocated for greater recognition of these professionals and questioned the reduction in the number of elderly individuals receiving Home Support Service (SAD). The party stated that between March 2024 and July of this year, the number of seniors with home support decreased from 3,272 to 3,100.
Lina Pereira also criticized measures announced by the Regional Government during the holiday period, which she believes penalize the most vulnerable citizens, specifically mentioning the PRR reprogramming that anticipates a cut of approximately 500 beds in continuing care and residential structures.
