JPP Proposal for Madeira-Continent Ferry Link Approved in Parliament

The Assembly of the Republic has approved a legislative initiative by the Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) party, recommending urgent government measures to establish a regular ferry service for passengers and cargo between Madeira and the mainland.

JPP MP Filipe Sousa described the approval as "another political victory in defense of Madeira," emphasizing that the measure is crucial to break the island's isolation and provide an alternative to air transport.

The parliamentary resolution calls for adherence to the constitutional principle of territorial continuity and social cohesion, urging the government to proceed with an international public tender for the ferry line and to ensure interim solutions.
