TVDE Association Criticizes Chega for Announcing Law Approval Before Vote

The National TVDE Movement Association has expressed concern over news reports suggesting the near-certain approval of new legislation for the sector, prior to the final vote scheduled in the Assembly of the Republic. The association believes that statements from a Chega party deputy, presenting the diploma's approval as guaranteed before the vote, "raise serious questions about respect for the democratic process, institutional transparency, and the very dignity of the Assembly of the Republic."

The movement further accuses Chega of failing to contribute to regulations that would protect TVDE drivers' interests, recalling the party withdrew a proposal to reduce digital platform commissions from 25% to 15%. The association also criticized Chega's Madeira-elected deputy, Francisco Gomes, whose parliamentary interventions were marked by "successive criticisms of the TVDE sector and its legitimate professional associations, instead of presenting concrete solutions." The association awaits a formal apology and has initiated proceedings with competent parliamentary bodies regarding the deputy's conduct.

Furthermore, the association has filed a precautionary measure with the Funchal Administrative and Fiscal Court against the Regional Government of Madeira's decision to suspend the issuance of new TVDE driver certificates. This legal action follows Regional Government Council Resolution No. 691/2025, as the association contends the measure caused "serious and immediate harm" to dozens of candidates who had met all legal requirements for the CMTVDE-RAM Certificate, violating fundamental principles of the rule of law.
