The JPP councilors in Funchal's Municipal Assembly have submitted a proposal to the PSD/CDS majority for a Municipal Action Plan for the Safety and Use of Scooters.
According to JPP, the proliferation of shared electric scooters, while a solution for urban mobility, has led to issues such as disorderly parking, circulation in pedestrian areas, and safety risks.
The proposal includes measures for prevention, awareness, enforcement, public space organization, and coordination with operators, while also questioning legal security and protection for accident victims.
