The Left Bloc (BE) has demanded that the Regional Government of Madeira clarify how many of the new beds for the elderly, funded by public money from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), will actually be social spots.
The BE points out that while the PRR foresees 582 spots (329 of which are new), new capacity does not automatically guarantee social spots. The party questions the government's transparency, citing examples like the Santa Clara Social Complex and the Til Home, where publicly funded beds appear to be privately operated or prioritized for associates, with high monthly fees.
The party calls for clear accounting regarding public funding for facilities that may be operated privately and what social consideration is demanded from beneficiary institutions. The BE wants to know how many people remain on the waiting list for a social spot after the PRR's completion.
