Luso-Venezuelan Community Discusses Integration and Academic Equivalencies in Madeira

The second part of the conference 'Living between two countries: Rights, Support, and Solutions', part of the Luso-Venezuelan Festival in Ribeira Brava, focused on the difficulties faced by the Luso-Venezuelan community. Academic equivalencies were a central theme. Fátima Gonçalves shared her positive experience at the University of Madeira but called for faster qualification recognition processes by the Ministry of Education, given the region's professional shortages. Dr. Nancy Gomes explained that the complex process, involving multiple entities, is slow, with Spain being ahead. The uncertain situation in Venezuela and dual nationality also presented additional obstacles. Participants like Júlio stressed the importance of practical work experience, while the Mayor of Ribeira Brava and an ABANCA financial manager advocated for valuing experience over CVs, particularly in fields like finance where the Venezuelan market has extensive expertise.
