Madeira recorded a record positive trade balance of 157.3 million euros in 2025, a significant increase from 66.3 million euros in 2024. Exports grew by 35.9%, reaching 499.9 million euros, more than double the growth rate of imports.
This export surge was driven by trade with both EU and non-EU countries. Imports totalled 342.6 million euros, a 13.7% increase from the previous year. The import coverage ratio rose to 145.9%.
Companies licensed within the Madeira International Business Centre (CINM) played a substantial role, though their share of total exports slightly decreased due to stronger growth from the wider regional economy.
