The Legislative Assembly of Madeira unanimously approved the regional government's proposal to amend IRS income tax rates, maintaining a reduction of up to 30% across all brackets compared with mainland rates. The measure passed both in general and in the final global vote.
According to the regional government, the change represents an estimated revenue reduction of 5.6 million euros in 2026. The effects are expected to appear already in November salaries, once the new withholding tables are published.
In the same session, a proposal updating the rules protecting regional roads was approved in general, with votes in favour from PSD, PS and CDS-PP and abstentions from JPP, Chega and IL.
