During the 2025/2026 school year, 11 educational institutions in Madeira took part in the Escola Electrão campaign, successfully collecting and sending over 7.6 tons of electrical waste for recycling.
The collected waste comprised 5,367 kilograms of electrical equipment, 1,698 kilograms of batteries, and 539 kilograms of lamps. Participating schools will receive 2,100 euros in gift vouchers for purchasing new electrical equipment.
The Lourencinha Basic School stood out, receiving the largest regional prize of 1,125 euros. The national campaign set a new record, with over 515 tons of waste collected from 720 schools across the country.
