Madeiran Researchers Participate in Underwater Archaeology Campaign in Greece

Researchers from the Centre for Modern Archaeology Studies (CEAM), Marco Freitas and Joana Santos, were on the island of Aegina, Greece, during August.

They participated in the international 'Aigina Harbour City Project' campaign, focused on studying remains of the city's ancient port complex. This year's work concentrated on the topographic recording of submerged archaeological structures.

The project, investigating Aegina's ancient port complex—a significant maritime city in the Aegean Sea—is an international collaboration. The Madeiran researchers' participation in future campaigns is expected to continue.
