The Regional Secretary of Health and Civil Protection, Micaela Fonseca de Freitas, highlighted the need for a spirit of commitment and strategic vision among all societal sectors for the future of healthcare. Speaking at the opening of the 'Paths of Consensus and Commitment for Health in Portugal' Conference-Debate, Freitas stressed the attraction and retention of professionals as a priority, combating island challenges with valued careers. Digital transformation, the future Central and University Hospital of Madeira, and the User Health Registry were identified as essential pillars, alongside a continuous focus on prevention and health literacy. The official also suggested sharing Madeira's pioneering experience in emergency medical services and disaster management at a national level.
