Monte Palace launches free school programme, aiming for 20,000 pupils a year

The reshaped Raízes e Asas programme offers free visits with transport and snacks for 2026/27 and 2027/28, backed by about €2 million in investment.

Monte Palace Madeira will keep welcoming schools at no cost to pupils, families or institutions. The Raízes e Asas programme, reshaped for the 2026/27 and 2027/28 school years, covers everything from pre-school to higher education and aims to reach 20,000 pupils a year by 2028.

Each visit includes a guided tour by mediators, return transport and a snack. The route, adapted to each school cycle, takes in the gardens, the tile panels and the museum, and was redesigned to match the national Essential Learning guidelines.

The presentation takes place next Thursday, 29 October, at 11:00 in the Jardim Tropical, with regional Education Secretary Elsa Fernandes attending. Bookings can be made at edu.montepalacemadeira.com.
