The Nova Direita party has questioned the implications of several Public Security Police (PSP) services being closed during the Regional Command's anniversary celebrations.
Paulo Azevedo, the party's coordinator, asked why a high percentage of PSP services were shut down for commemorative events, emphasizing that citizen safety does not take holidays and should not be sidelined for protocol reasons.
Nova Direita also suggested that administrative functions could be handled by civilian staff, freeing up PSP officers for patrol and public service. The party has requested clarification from the PSP's regional commander regarding the criteria for service closures and personnel deployment during ceremonies.
