A fire broke out on the night of September 26th in a building on Rua da Boa Viagem, in Funchal's Old Town, leaving eight people homeless, according to the Regional Civil Protection Service.
The alert was raised at 11:40 PM, mobilizing six vehicles and 15 personnel from the Madeira Volunteer Firefighters and the Funchal Fire Brigade. The incident also led to two cases of smoke inhalation, with a young firefighter and a woman requiring hospital transport.
The fire prompted a significant emergency response in the area and caused the early closure of the nearby Lust Vintage nightclub, which cited safety and cooperation with the Fire Department as reasons for the temporary shutdown.
