Ports from the Outermost Regions (ORs) have taken a significant step in strengthening their cooperation by advancing the process of creating an Association of OR Ports. This new entity aims to structure and provide continuity to the joint work developed over the past year.
The decision emerged from a working meeting in Las Palmas, which brought together representatives from ten ports, including the Ports Administration of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM). The Minister of Public Works of the Canary Islands expressed support for the initiative, recognizing the importance of a unified stance before European institutions.
The proposal to create the association will be presented at the next meeting of the OR Ports Group in Guadeloupe. A working group will be established to define the structure and operational lines of the future association, which seeks to enhance knowledge sharing and coordination among ports in Portugal, Spain, and France.
