The Assembly of the Republic has approved a recommendation to the Government to undertake the necessary efforts for the resumption of the regular passenger and rolling cargo sea link between Madeira and mainland Portugal.
The initiative originated from a draft resolution presented by the Chega parliamentary group and received favorable votes from the PS and the Left Bloc. PSD, CDS, Liberal Initiative, PCP, and Livre abstained.
Chega deputy Francisco Gomes considered the approval a crucial step in responding to a "historic demand of Madeirans," promoting mobility and territorial continuity. The party assured it would monitor developments to ensure the recommendation is implemented.
