Paulo Cafôfo Accuses PSD and CDS of Blocking Social Security Accounts Inquiry

Paulo Cafôfo, leader of the Socialist Parliamentary Group in Madeira, criticized the rejection of the PS proposal for a parliamentary inquiry commission into the accounts of the Madeira Social Security Institute (ISSM), by the PSD/CDS majority.

Cafôfo stated that "those who have nothing to hide have nothing to fear" and that the party will continue to demand clarifications, considering that the Regional Government should be interested in clarifying the facts and presenting documents related to the Institute's management. Six consecutive fiscal years (2019-2024) whose accounts were refused by the Court of Auditors are in question.

The PS also intends to question national Social Security entities about system problems that allegedly justified the difficulties identified in the regional accounts. Cafôfo assured that the PS will continue to demand explanations and corrective measures, emphasizing that public money requires accountability.
