PCP Accuses Republic Government of Delaying Repairs on Selvagem Grande Island

The PCP has accused the Republic Government of failing to implement measures outlined in the 2026 State Budget aimed at improving operational conditions for the protection of the Selvagens Islands Nature Reserve.

The party is demanding clarification on the delay in repairing the sea access ramp at the Selvagem Grande Maritime Post, an infrastructure vital for the operation of a semi-rigid amphibious boat belonging to the Maritime Police. The PCP states that the repair was approved in the State Budget, despite opposition votes from the PSD and CDS-PP.

The PCP deems it unacceptable that the Government is disregarding this need for environmental and territorial protection, thereby undermining the operational capacity of the authorities. The inadequate condition of the ramp hinders surveillance and inspection activities in an environmentally sensitive area, and the party calls for the urgent repair of the infrastructure.
