The Representative of the Republic for the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Paulo Barreto, held an audience with Lieutenant General Luís Monsanto.
Luís Monsanto took office as Commander of the Portuguese Army's Land Forces on September 9th. Previously, he commanded the Madeira Military Zone from October 2022 to September 2023.
Lieutenant General Monsanto joined the Military Academy in 1984 and holds a Master's degree in Military Sciences. Throughout his career, he has held command, teaching, and advisory roles, including international missions and work at NATO Headquarters.
