The Municipal Chamber of Ponta do Sol plans to invest over half a million euros in a new package of measures aimed at supporting families, education, and the birth rate. The announcement was made by the Mayor, Rui Marques, during the solemn session of the Council Day.

The new Municipal Regulation for Education and Birth Rate Support, expected to come into effect by the end of 2026, includes a monthly allowance of €30 per child up to five years old, contributions towards nursery expenses, and €1,100 scholarships for higher education students. Rui Marques highlighted this as an unprecedented investment in the municipality, aiming to retain the population and create conditions for young people to thrive in the region.
