The second Popular Assembly for the Right to Housing will be held this Sunday, 1 November, at 5 p.m., in the Funchal Municipal Garden. It follows the meeting held on 25 October.
Organisers link the initiative to property speculation and to the difficulties faced by people looking for a home in the region. The first assembly brought together people from across Madeira to share testimonies and discuss proposals in an open, direct-democracy format.
According to the organisers, two more popular assemblies were also agreed before the "Casas para Viver" demonstration on 14 November.
