PSD Councillor Criticizes Olavo Câmara's Management in Porto Moniz

Dinarte Nunes, a PSD councilor in the Porto Moniz Municipal Chamber, has urged the Mayor, Olavo Câmara, to utilize the municipality's available financial resources to address local issues, particularly housing.

Nunes recalled that Olavo Câmara himself stated he inherited a council "debt-free and with money to invest," questioning why this capital is not being deployed. He suggested the Municipal Chamber should purchase land and promote the construction of affordable housing, leveraging support programs like "Primeiro Direito."

The councilor also commented on the plan to implement a tourist tax in 2027, agreeing with Olavo Câmara that the current revenue distribution model is unfair to Porto Moniz. He advocated for a distribution system that considers not only the number of tourist beds but also the territorial area and the tourism pressure the municipality endures.

Regarding safety on the express road, Dinarte Nunes echoed the concerns of the population and the local authority, stating it is time to proceed with the necessary works, which were previously delayed due to environmental impact studies and governmental instability.
