The PSD Parliamentary Group visited the Curral dos Romeiros Resident Civil Protection Unit to mark the entry into force of the new Regional Risk Monitoring and Communication System, Special Alert, and Public Warning.
Deputy Joana Silva highlighted that the system strengthens Madeira's response capacity, granting autonomy in direct communication with citizens during catastrophes, serious accidents, fires, floods, or landslides.
This mechanism allows for SMS alerts, ensuring credible and rapid information, which, according to Silva, "allows each citizen to adjust their behavior and adopt preventive and self-protection measures, contributing to individual and collective safety." The system serves the regional Civil Protection and the municipal services of the eleven municipalities, ensuring faster and more effective communication in emergency situations.
