The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, formalized a 10,000 euro program contract with the Porto Santo Animal Friends Association (AAMA). The support aims to assist the association in its functions of protecting and ensuring the welfare of companion animals.
To date, the Regional Government has already approved 207,760 euros in support for animal welfare associations, with the potential to reach 247,760 euros. This figure represents an increase of approximately 17% compared to the previous year.
Nuno Maciel highlighted the importance of collaborating with these associations for activities such as the collection, housing, vaccination, and sterilization of stray animals, as well as supporting families in need and promoting adoptions and awareness campaigns.
