The Regional Government of Madeira has initiated an international public tender for the provision of electronic payment management services. The contract, valued at a maximum of €4.32 million over three years, will cover the Simplifica portal and other Regional Public Administration systems.
The Agency for Innovation and Modernisation of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (AIM) issued the tender, seeking a provider to process payments via various electronic methods. These include Multibanco, debit and credit cards, MB Way, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.
According to tender specifications, the contract duration is 36 months or until the maximum contractual value is reached. The contract value was determined following preliminary market consultation and is based on current transaction volumes, which in May 2026 averaged around 214,000 monthly payments. Bidders will primarily compete on the commissions they charge.
