The President of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, Rubina Leal, met with the President of the Competition Authority, Nuno Cunha Rodrigues, to discuss the mobility of Madeira and Porto Santo residents.
Leal highlighted the impact of rising airfares on regional families, advocating for mobility as an essential right for island populations that must be ensured equitably.
The meeting also addressed the importance of promoting effective competition among companies to ensure more efficient markets, fair prices, and greater consumer protection. Both parties emphasized the need for ongoing institutional cooperation on competition matters, market transparency, and the defense of citizens' interests.
