Rui Caetano, a councilor for the Socialist Party in Funchal Municipal Assembly, has demanded explanations "without delay or evasion" from the municipal executive.
The statements follow allegations by Susana Neves, president of the Regional Section of the Order of Architects, concerning failures in the inspection of urban development and rehabilitation works in the Region. Caetano warned of "situations of clear lack of oversight and subsequent alteration of works," citing a "generalized sense of impunity."
The socialist councilor questioned the executive about the veracity of these accusations and, if confirmed, how many interventions in Funchal were carried out without proper final scrutiny. Rui Caetano called for urgent clarifications, full transparency, and a rigorous audit of the processes in question, emphasizing the responsibility of the Funchal Mayor in this matter.
