The São Vicente Municipal Chamber has approved, by majority, the reduction of its variable share of IRS to 0%, in favor of its residents.
This decision, fulfilling an electoral promise by the Chega party, allows taxpayers residing in the municipality to benefit from the 5% that until now constituted municipal revenue. The proposal was voted in favor by Chega councilors, while those elected by PSD/CDS-PP abstained.
This fiscal measure, awaiting approval from the Municipal Assembly, represents a change in municipal policy, which previously applied the maximum rate allowed by law.
