CDS deputy Sara Madalena has expressed her dissatisfaction with law 34/2026, deeming it "tragic" for limiting defense rights in courts.
According to Madalena, the law, which imposes fines ranging from 51 to 2040 euros for procedural acts deemed dilatory, compromises citizens' right to defense and the work of lawyers. The deputy argues that case management should not impede access to defense and calls for the law's revision.
Sara Madalena agrees with the need for swift justice but not at the expense of fundamental rights, also suggesting the need for more court officials.
