The Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SESARAM) has announced it is regularizing moderating fees for services at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital's Emergency Department. This action strictly adheres to current legislation and applies to cases classified as "low urgency" (green) and "non-urgent" (blue) according to the Manchester Triage System.
SESARAM emphasizes that this is a national legal requirement, supported by recommendations from the Court of Auditors. To ensure correct implementation and prevent undue charges, the service is notifying affected individuals. Citizens can verify their status and confirm eligibility for any legal exemptions.
Exemptions include individuals under 18, pregnant women, those with a disability of 60% or more, social pension beneficiaries, individuals facing economic hardship, transplant, chronic, or cancer patients, blood donors, firefighters, veterans, and registered unemployed individuals. SESARAM advises users to confirm their exemption status with their Health Center and to utilize local health centers for non-urgent issues first.
