Fernanda Castro, a resident in Specialized Training in General Surgery at the Health Service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SESARAM), has been chosen to join the committee of the Young Surgeons Wing of the European Hernia Society (EHS).
The official announcement was made during the 48th Annual International Congress of the EHS, held in Porto, marking the first time Portugal hosted this major global event focused on abdominal wall surgery.
This appointment signifies the first time a Portuguese specialized training resident has become part of an EHS advisory committee, highlighting international recognition of the doctor's academic, scientific, and clinical journey, as well as SESARAM's growing presence in international scientific forums.
