The update to the subsidy for university students from Madeira is expected to be included in the 2027 State Budget. Miguel Albuquerque, the President of the Regional Government, stated that the commitment includes a 10% annual increase over three years.

"It was agreed that what the minister and the secretary of state committed to will be fulfilled in the specific discussion of the budget," Albuquerque said after a meeting in Lisbon with the PSD parliamentary leader. He argued that the academic community in Madeira should not be disadvantaged.

Albuquerque expressed satisfaction with the agreement but noted that its implementation depends on parliamentary debate. The measure aims to ensure Madeiran students are not placed at a disadvantage compared to others.
