The percentage of unbilled water by ARM (Águas e Resíduos da Madeira) on the island saw a significant decrease between 2020 and 2025.

In 2020, the unbilled water rate was 69.7%, dropping to 60.1% in 2025. Despite this improvement, a considerable volume of nine million cubic meters of water remains unbilled.

The municipality of Machico shows the least favorable indicator among the five municipalities managed at the distribution level by the public company ARM. The news was reported by Diário de Notícias da Madeira.
