Government Strengthens Competencies and Funding for Mobility and Transport Institute

The Regional Secretary for Equipment and Infrastructures presented a diploma in the Legislative Assembly intended to strengthen the competencies and funding of the Institute of Mobility and Transport (IMT, IP-RAM).

According to Pedro Rodrigues, the creation of IMT represented a structural reform in the region's land transport, integrating responsibilities previously held by TIIM, S.A. Practical application of this model revealed the need for improvements to increase effectiveness, clarify procedures, and consolidate the legal framework.

The proposed changes aim to detail the IMT's funding regime, clarify the succession of assets and contracts, and establish mechanisms for valuing and compensating critical operational functions. The diploma also expands the Institute's responsibilities to include managing national vehicle registries in Madeira and clarifies its own revenue regime, ensuring a more transparent and sustainable funding model. Furthermore, it provides for a supplementary payment for staff involved in the operational management of integrated ticketing and associated technological systems, while also enhancing administrative cooperation and data interoperability.
