The Youth wing of Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) has criticized the JSD Madeira, deeming it concerning that, amidst high living costs, unaffordable housing, and low wages, the JSD concentrates on end-of-summer "entertainment" initiatives.
Alexandre Gomes, leader of JPP Youth, stated that "if the JSD, with its years of existence, effectively worked for the youth of Madeira, we would not have so many young people leaving the Island". Gomes questioned whether the JSD had proposed VAT reduction and the return of the ferry service to the Regional Government, measures that could alleviate the cost of living for young Madeirans.
The JPP alleges that the JSD does not address these issues because its party "does not even want to hear about the ferry or VAT reduction". Gomes added that JPP Youth works on solutions for young people in coordination with their parliamentary groups, focusing on topics such as the ferry line, VAT reduction, and housing at prices compatible with young people's salaries.
