JPP: Municipal Police is a useful tool, but cannot solve problems alone

The JPP party has stated its position on the Municipal Police, affirming that it "can be a useful tool, but does not, by itself, solve the problems of parking, traffic, degraded sidewalks, public space maintenance, or social issues."

The JPP emphasized the need to define "what model is intended to be implemented, what competences it will have, and what concrete problems it aims to solve." The party also criticized the PSD for apparent "successive changes in position" on the matter.

According to Fátima Aveiro and António Trindade, JPP elected officials, there is a "political contradiction" as the Funchal City Council and the Republic Government, being from the same party, "continue to fail to find a solution." The JPP pledges to continue monitoring the issue, advocating for "more planning, more oversight, more on-the-ground presence, and above all, more decision-making and execution capacity."
