Madeira will welcome immigrants with dignity, states Regional Government President

The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, reaffirmed Madeira's commitment to welcoming immigrants who can contribute to the region's development.

During the opening of the Madeira Global Forum, Albuquerque advocated for "controlled immigration," emphasizing the need to ensure the full integration of these individuals into Madeiran society. He rejected the idea of using immigrants as "scapegoats" to solve political problems.

Albuquerque also highlighted the importance of a "network policy" for the Portuguese and Madeiran diaspora, arguing that it strengthens Portugal's affirmation and its global geopolitical position. Madeira, he assured, will continue to treat its emigrants with dignity.
