The Conference of Party Representatives has defined the speaking conditions for independent deputy Miguel Castro in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira's plenary sessions.
Castro, former leader of Chega, will have speaking times equivalent to those of single-member deputies, such as Sara Madalena (CDS) and Gonçalo Maia Camelo (IL). He will also join the 3rd Specialized Committee on Environment, Climate, and Natural Resources, with Chega no longer represented there.
The independent deputy will also be allocated his own workspace. His departure from Chega reduces the parliamentary group to two members, leading to a decrease in parliamentary subsidies, estimated at over 71,000 euros annually. The deputy will not receive an individual subsidy, as the organic law does not provide for this situation for independent deputies.
