The Socialist Party's Parliamentary Group has submitted a protest vote to the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, criticizing the Regional Government's alleged inability to resolve problems that have prevented the approval of the Madeira Social Security Institute (ISSM) accounts by the Court of Auditors.
The party stated that the identified limitations, ongoing since 2020, compromise the reliability of the ISSM's accounts, leading to the non-approval of the 2023 and 2024 fiscal years. Reports confirm significant issues with accounting information and IT systems, with the Sole Auditor maintaining a disclaimer of opinion and the Court of Auditors deeming the ISSM's arguments insufficient.
MP Isabel Garcês highlighted that for the 2024 fiscal year, the external auditor could not obtain reasonable assurance regarding €63.662 million in receivables due to limitations in information systems and control mechanisms. The audit also noted the absence of a study on future pension liabilities and required disclosures under the Public Accounting Standardization System.
The PS believes the Regional Government has failed in its duty to oversee and facilitate the resolution of these structural issues, raising concerns about transparency and public fund management.
